Model description for
Chubb Anti Blowpipe Bankers Third Strength
:
CHUBB ANTI -BLOWPIPE BANKERS THIRD STRENGTH
The Chubb Third Strength Bankers Safe is designed to protect items of great value. It weighs over four tons and gives a very high degree of resistance to attack by oxyacetylene blowpipe, drills, explosives or other means. Chubb special Blowpipe and Drill-resisting Alloy is used in both the body and door of the safe ; this alloy is impervious to any known cutting tool. Should explosives be used there is the Chubb emergency re-locking device which comes into operation automatically and which, even if the locks be blown completely off the safe, cannot be opened. Furthermore, the great weight of this safe precludes its bodily removal ; such an operation requires special tackle and a gang of highly skilled men.
SPECIFICATION
BODY
The body has an overall thickness of 6 3/8 in. (168.3 mm.) and incorporates 2 in. (51 mm.) of Chubb Fire-resisting material and a solid inner shell of Chubb Blowpipe and Drill-Resisting Alloy 4 in. (102 mm.) thick, lined with an inner plate of 1/4 in. (6.35 mm.) tough Siemens steel. The outer body is bent up into box form from a tough Siemens steel plate 3/8 in. (9.52 mm.) thick, with large rounded corners and deep flanges. The back is let in flush and the whole electrically welded into a solid unit.
DOOR
The door has an overall thickness of 10 5/8 in. (270 mm.) and an effective thickness of 6 in. (171 mm.). The door slab is composed of an outer plate of tough Siemens steel 1/2 in. (12.7 mm.) thick, 2 in. (51 mm.) of Fire-resisting Materials, 41 in. (102 mm.) of Chubb Blowpipe and Drill-resisting alloy and an inner plate of 1/4 in. (6.35 mm.) mild steel. The door is hung on roller bearing pivots.
BOLTWORK
A heavy lock case, electrically welded to the back of the door slab, is fitted with four moving bolts of bright drawn steel at the front edge 2 in. (51 mm.) diameter and four similar moving bolts at the back edge. These bolts shoot behind the solid rebates in the safe body, and are operated by a double eccentric bolt-throwing mechanism.
LOCKING
The locking mechanism is secured either by two best quality Chubb keylocks and a keyless combination lock which throws hardened steel shutters over the keyholes or by two keyless combination locks. Dial check locks arc fitted to keyless combination locks. When keylocks are supplied the keys, being necessarily long to reach the lock, are made with the bits detachable ; thus only the vital part of the key is carried by the owner. Keys are supplied in duplicate.
AUTOMATIC RELOCKING DEVICE
An important additional locking feature is the Chubb Emergency Re-locking Device which, being always on guard, comes into operation automatically if a lock is dislodged by explosives or ii the door is attacked by other means.
FITTINGS
Adjustable internal shelves, drawers, or cupboards (each with individual six lever CHUBB keylocks supplied with duplicate keys) can be fitted or a combination of all three can be quoted as an extra to suit individual requirements.
FINISH
Standard finish is as follows, Door—medium grey, Body—black enamel, Interior—medium grey, Furniture—Chromium plated, Handles-covered in black plastic.
WEIGHT Approximate weight: 82 cwt. (1166 kg.)
