Chubb Bankers First Strength 5540 Two

Description

BANKERS SAFE FIRST STRENGTH
WITH ANTI-BLOWPIPE COFFER

ALL CHUBB BANKERS SAFES give protection against the oxyacetylene blowpipe—the most modern method of attack. In certain circumstances, however, a safe is required for general office purposes with a small compartment for cash and valuables.
The Chubb Bankers Safe, first strength, provides this security by means of an Anti-Blowpipe and Drill-resisting coffer fitted inside a Burglar and Fire-resisting Safe. Thus the expense of a large Anti-Blowpipe Safe is saved, and this arrangement is ideal for use where a large space is required for hooks and documents and smaller, stronger accommodation is required for cash or other valuables. Both the main and coffer doors are fitted with two locks for dual control, or Key-less Combination Locks can he fitted if required.

SPECIFICATION

BODY
The body is 4 in. (103 mm.) thick, the outer plate being 3/8 in. (9.52 mm.) bent up into box form with large rounded corners and wide flanges. The back is let in flush and welded to the body. The inner lining is formed from rolled steel sheet and suitably reinforced. The space between the inner and outer bodies is filled with Chubb Tested and Certified Fire-resisting Material which has been proved the finest for its purpose.

DOOR
The door is 5 in. (127 mm.) thick ; the outer plate is 3/4 in (19.1 mm.) tough Siemens steel, reinforced with drill-resisting armour plate over the lock and vital parts for additional protection. The total thickness of steel in front of the lock is 11 in. (31.8 mm.). The lock and bolt chamber is formed with a continuous steel rimming and is electrically welded to the door plate and suitably reinforced. On the back of the lock case is fitted the CHUBB Automatic Sliding Proofing Case, a device which for fire protection purposes effectively seals the gap between the front edge of the door and the body of the safe when the door is closed.

LOCKING
There are 1 1/2 in. (38.1 mm.) diameter moving bolts at the front edge and fixed dog bolts at the back edge which engage behind the rebates of the body frame. The bolt-throwing mechanism is operated by a lever handle and secured by two Chubb 7-lever locks with Patent Monitor action which ensures that the door is always left properly locked. Steel keys in duplicate are supplied.

AUTOMATIC RE-LOCKING DEVICE
There is an emergency re-locking device which, being always on guard, automatically re-locks the door if an attack is made by blowpipe or if the lock is dislodged by explosives or any other means.

FITTINGS
In the clear height above the coffer, steel shelves, adjustable at 1 in. (25.4 mm.) pitch, can be supplied. A full width drawer or two half width drawers side by side, each fitted with individual Chubb six-lever keylocks, or a lock-up cupboard, or any combination of shelves, drawers, and cupboards can be supplied at an extra cost to suit customers’ requirements.
