CHUBB STANDARD QUALITY ANTI-BLOWPIPE

This new range of CHUBB Standard Quality Anti-Blowpipe Safes has been designed to combat the increased use by burglars of the oxy-acetylene blowpipe and explosives. These Safes offer protection against burglarious attack by oxyacetylene blowpipe, explosives and drills at a most reasonable price. They are MODERN—entirely new designs have been evolved, based not only on a series of tests using the blowpipe, drills and explosives, but on a comprehensive analysis of modem burglary methods and, above all, backed by a security engineering skill acquired over 130 years. The chief feature of these Safes is STRENGTH IN DEPTH, for the further an attacker penetrates the safe, the greater is the defence.

DOOR
The door has an overall thickness of 6 1/2 in. (165 mm). The total solid thickness of metal is 1 15/16 in. (49 mm) and this includes a 1 in. (25 mm) thickness of CHUBB blowpipe and drill-resisting alloy placed in between plates of Tough Siemens Steel.
There is a hinged fire-resisting chamber at the back of the door filled with the special CHUBB Fire-Resisting material. On Safes fitted with Key Locks this chamber is fastened by screws, but on Safes fitted with Keyless Locks it is secured by a Key Lock with duplicate keys. The door is hung on hardened steel pivots working in a hardened steel bearing with the vertical thrust taken on a hardened steel washer, with the hinge of modern design.

BODY
The body has an overall thickness of 4 1/2 in. (114 mm). The outer body is formed from Tough Siemens Steel plate in two sections which, together with the Tough Siemens Steel back plate, are electrically welded to form a one-piece body. The total solid metal thickness completely surrounding the body of the safe is 1 5/16 in. (33 mm), of which 1 in. (25 mm) comprises blowpipe and drill-resisting alloy. Between the outer and inner bodies of the safe on all sides, top and bottom is special CHUBB Fire-Resisting material. The body is of 24 bend corner construction with the door frame and locking rebates an integral part, forming a very strong construction.

BOLTWORK
The door is secured into the body by 1 1/2 in. (38 mm) diameter Steel Sliding Bolts at the front edge, one of which is filled with CHUBB Anti-Blowpipe and drill-resisting alloy, and by fixed bolts at the back edge. The Sliding Bolts engage directly into the formed body front section. The number of bolts used varies according to the size of the safe and is never less than three each at back and front and rises to a maximum of six each at back and front.

LOCKING
The boltwork is normally secured by a CHUBB Best Quality seven-lever Lock with monitor action and with solid keys in duplicate. (Keys 2 1/2 in. (63 mm) Bit to Bow and 4 5/16 in. (109 mm) overall length.) Alternative lockings can be arranged with four-number Keyless Combination Locks. These can be used in addition to, or in place of, Key Locks. Keyless Combination Locks can be fitted with Dial Check Locks and anti-observation shields if required at varying additional costs.
As a result of much experience gained from the use of explosives in the opening of safes—including methods used by burglars and in our own testing grounds—CHUBB have introduced a new type of boltwork which provides direct locking into the bolt-throwing mechanism and secondary locking in the form of two cross-locking members.

RELOCKING DEVICE
An Emergency Relocking Device is incorporated which is automatically on guard every time the locking bolts are thrown and ensures that locking is secured if the lock is dislodged by explosives or other means.

FINISH
Painted finish inside and out in high quality enamels. Standard colours are—body, dark grey ; door and interior, medium grey. Other colours can be supplied to order. Panel plates and furniture chromium-plated.
